OCTOBER HIGHLIGHT

Children are so refreshing and uplifting to be around. This week I had the privilege and honor to be invited to spend time with some third graders. I was impressed by the thoughtful questions they asked and the concern they expressed for the characters, Tiny and Toby. Some wanted to know how Tiny found food after Toby was released. Others wanted to know how Toby’s parents handled losing their son for the second time. Still, others were interested to know my teaching history and how difficult it is to write a book. They each wrote me a letter expressing their love of the story and how it affected them emotionally, taught them how to handle different life events and how to make and be a friend.

Their excitement and enthusiasm was a real gift to an author. One that I shall never forget. Thanks, kids, for making my day so special.
